Mom Creates Fairytale Photos of Her Napping Baby

Freelance artist Sioin Queenie Liao created these fairytale dreamscapes of her napping son using common household items for a series of images called “Wengenn in Wonderland.” A skirt was folded to represent the moon and a belt for a snake. No shopping required. Creating a scene “just like how an artist would with her paint brushes,” Liao said.

Photography has always been her hobby and naturally Liao turned her lens on her three children, taking inspiration from photographer Anne Geddes. When Wengenn, her third child, was 3 months old, she came across the work of Adele Enersen on her sleeping daughter Mila and went in that direction.

Liao has well over a 100 images portraying “a cute little story of Wengenn in his journey of adventure.” A book of her photos, “Sleepy Baby”, was published in Taiwan in July 2012. The book provides step-by-step details of how some of those pictures were made, as well as how other art crafts can be made out of baby pictures. She is working on an English version of the book.
