Personal Trainer Reveals The Truth Behind Transformation Photos

You’ve probably seen a lot of stunning body transformation pictures in advertisements. You may have even tried following some of the diets. For most of them, however, the results probably weren’t as good as you expected (or hoped!)

However, it’s actually easier than you think! A certified personal trainer Andrew Dixon decided to show the truth behind transformation photos and grew some muscles in just one day!

Andrew decided to take his own transformation photos to see what was possible with just a few easy tweaks. So a little while ago on a day when he was feeling particularly bloated, he asked his girlfriend to take a before shot. He was 185 pounds (84kgs) and about 16 percent body fat at the time. He then shaved his head, face and chest and prepared for the after shot, which was taken by his girlfriend about an hour after she took the before shot! According to Andrew, all he did in between shots was a few push ups and chin ups, tweaked his bedroom lighting, sucked in, tightened his abs and BOOM! An “as seen on TV” after shot!

As Andrew notes, he’s not a bodybuilder, but he had enough muscle on him to catch some shadows from the all-important overhead lighting.

A couple of months later (when his hair grew back), Andrew decided to take another series of photos in an attempt to be a little more deceptive. He wanted to show a series of progressions that look like a few months of hard work and dieting. At this time he was about 200 pounds (91kg) and 19 percent body fat. He then took a series of transformation photos which actually only took an hour to produce from first “fat” photo to last “fit and ripped” photo!

What was his point? According to Andrew:

“Don’t try to look like anyone you see in a transformation photo. Be inspired, but don’t be disappointed if you don’t see yourself the way you see those models. Being tricked into eating low-calorie diets and doing endless cardio is a recipe for fat gain, especially in the long term. Forget about the quick transformations and focus on a life of healthy eating, well-managed stress levels, quality sleep and plenty of movement. Spend time with people who have similar goals and values and take time to appreciate yourself the way you are right now. Don’t beat yourself up if you eat a cookie, just enjoy that cookie and everything else life has to offer.”

We all spend too much time sucking in our guts, trying to look the way we think society thinks we should. Don’t waste any more energy trying to compete with everyone else.

It’s all smoke and mirrors.
