Barbie Unveils 17 New Dolls Based On Inspiring Women Like Frida Kahlo

To celebrate International Women’s Day (March 8), Barbie has done something a little different. The toy brand is honoring female role models by giving them their own “Shero” and “Inspirational Women” dolls. The “Shero” collection already has dolls modeled after ballerina Misty Copeland, Olympic fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad, model Ashley Graham, and gymnast Gabby Douglas. But with so many inspiring women making history, Barbie wanted to honor more role models with more than a dozen new dolls.

The new “Shero” collection additions include one-of-a-kind dolls that look like Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, and Australian conservationist Bindi Irwin. Barbie also honored several other designers, chefs, athletes, journalists, and activists. All the “Shero” Barbies come with accessories and items that each role-model would actually use, like Kim’s snowboard and Jenkins’s video camera.
