So what is artFido?
artFido is an online sales and auction platform for every-day collectors to browse, search for, and buy and sell art. At artFido, we know that a collector’s interests, desires and circumstances change over time and that an artwork you once loved may no longer be suited to you.
artFido is not just a forum for individual buyers and sellers of art. It is also a place for commercial art galleries and artists to list both current and back room stock. artFido was born out of a passionate art collector’s desire to avoid the high commission fees charged by “bricks and mortar” auction houses (who can take up to 40% of the value of an artwork sold at auction!). It also arose from that same art collector becoming frustrated with the alternative online auction platforms which have generic search functionality and are ill-suited to the buying and selling of art. artFido is therefore affordable, transparent, easy-to-use and, most importantly, tailored exclusively to the searching, buying and selling of art.
At artFido, if you wish to buy an artwork, you can search for artworks in a myriad of ways, including by style, subject, size, price – even by colour! On the other hand, if you wish to sell an artwork, you can set a start price and/or a reserve price (a feature not offered by many mainstream online auction platforms). Both sellers and buyers benefit from our unique auction auto-extend feature, which extends the end time of an auction if a bid is placed in the last minute. If you are a seller, you can be sure that the person who is prepared to pay the most for your artwork will be the winning buyer. If you are a buyer, it means no more being outbid at the last second on an artwork you had your heart set on, and were prepared to pay more money for!
And thanks to the Australian Art Sales Digest, listings will automatically include artists’ past auction results, giving collectors a better understanding of the value of the art listed.
