Cristian Marianciuc is a paper artist who started an ambitious 100-days project back in 2015: to fold and decorate 1 origami crane every single day as part of a visual diary.

After the initial 100 days went by, he made another ambitious decision, and that was to continue his project until he reached 365 cranes in 365 days.

Once he reached that goal, he went ahead and challenged himself even further. He was going to attempt to fold and decorate one origami crane, every single day until he reached 1000 cranes in 1000 days. It was meant to be a nod to the Japanese tradition of ‘senbazuru’, according to which, the folding of 1000 paper cranes will grant the folder a wish.

On the 27th of September of 2017, he successfully reached his rather unbelievable goal. he had folded and decorated over 1000 cranes in 1000 days, without missing even one day!

Despite reaching his goal, he has not stopped folding and decorating origami cranes. He doesn’t do it on a daily basis anymore, but it has become such a vital part of who he is that he cannot imagine stopping altogether.
