Russian Embroidery Artist Creates Billowing Clouds and Rainbow-Hued Sunsets


Vera Shimunia is a Russian embroidery artist who began her landscape embroidery in 2015. Vera’s work includes richly-hued mountainscapes, sunrises, and skies are crafted on palm-sized embroidery hoops using a variety of textured threads.

Although embroidery is considered an old craft, Vera has breathed new life into the art form and has developed a huge following by distinguishing herself with different landscape elements using various stitch and knot styles, as well as thin, thick, and even three-dimensional fibers.
