Heartbeat is a cloud like structure assembled by artist Charles Petillon who has attached 100,000 white balloons onto a frame, and installing lights to illuminate them. The enormous display piece is located at the Covent Garden market place in London. Heartbeat is the first time French artist Charles Petillon did any of his work outside his country.

“With ‘heartbeat’ I want to represent the market building as the beating heart of this area – connecting its past with the present day to allow visitors to re-examine its role at the heart of London’s life,” Petillon said in an interview online. Balloons aren’t new to his art: the Invasion series has already invaded various buildings and a forest. Heartbeat, however, is a part of London Design Festival.
