Black and White Photography of Male Ballet Dancers

Bird1

The beauty and grace of a ballet dancer is a sight to behold.  But what about twenty amazingly flexible, sculptured, male ballet dancers?

That was the task faced by photographer Matthew Brookes in his recent Les Danseurs project.  Matthew worked with twenty male ballerinas from the Paris Opera Ballet, bringing the dancers to a minimalistic setting that allowed the men to be the main focus.

“I was fascinated by their physicality, their strength and the training that’s involved,” Brookes said. “They are first and foremost athletes, more than artists.”

Just wow!
