Dark and Controversial Digital Illustrations by Russian Artist

No since the works of Luis Quiles (see HERE) have we seen artwork as controversial as these.

Russian digital artist Waldemar von Kazak skirts the gamete of controversy, surrealism and social commentary, using sexual tension and bizarre characters to capture viewers’ imaginations.

Like him or loathe him, Waldermar’s work does exactly what great art is supposed to do – brings out our emotions, makes us question ourselves and the world around us, and most importantly of all, it makes us think.  We just love it!

What do you think?

  1. Art SHOULD make you FEEL something…even if it’s discomfort. We read into things. It’s only paint (or pastel?) on paper/canvas. If you want pretty pictures, check out Hallmark.

  2. Man, everytime there is a woman portrayed, some real life woman jumps to say: I´m offended cause that pictured don´t represent women of the world. Why on earth do you think the woman portrayed is representing more than one more women (and a fictional one). Get out of your arses, feminazis!

  3. I absolutely can’t like it. The modern woman is shown as brainless, evil, naughty, person, I just see hatred. The technique is good and the expression also is interesting. The feeling of being tracked by men is very to the point. But, seriously, something I want in my room?

  4. None of these seem controversial to me? Sure you have a religious icon on a surf board, and the granny from red riding hood supposedly had breast implants etc… But so what? Who are you trying to shock and what are you trying to say with these rather heavy handed/unsubtle “critiques” on our society?

  5. brilliant …. completely offensive and a visual mirror of humanity’s reduction and reversed evolution in intellect a manifestation of our nature twisted by a modern culture… vspin

  6. I FIND THIS ILLUSTRATIONS SUPERB AND THE ILLUSTRATOR MUST TRANSFORM THEM INTO FULL LENGTH ADULT FILMS…I GUESS HE MAY RECIEVE SEVERAL OSCARS AND HE MAY RECIEVE MILLONS OF DOLLARS FROM THE CINEMA DISTRIBUTION OF HIS FILMS…THERE IS NO ADULT FILM OF THE SORT IN THE MARKET TODAY…

  7. Is it only me, or do I really see anti-western, anti-emancipation and anti-“I-dont-want-to-be-told-how-to-life” lifestyle propaganda. I would say classical conservative russian aligned with current politics drew those. World is not like this at all and I am never gonna support such propaganda. Also, picturing Ford Mustang logo as a Pig … unnseccesary and blasphemous in my eyes XD

    1. On the contrary. I found the paintings (or, at least those which I sort of understood) to be anti – popular opinion and, for that matter, anti – conservativism. Guessing the painter isn`t pro Putin aswell. For example, the painting with the girl and the phone in her hand/purse, is, as I see it, a satiric way to point out how most of people see internet and phones as a anti-social tool. Dunno, seemed cool.

      1. No actually. Never, whether it’s the internet or your standing before it in an Art gallery. People have always found some things, certain things offensive just as people will always love. Not only is it human nature it is also the nature of Art. We are all different, we look at things differently, feel things differently especially when it comes to Art, which is the point I think. I love & respect anything that makes me feel, no matter the feeling’s as long as it evokes. As I said, it then has my interest. That is what makes Art,…Art. The beauty of it whether it’s provocative or not. I think there brilliant especially the ones I found a bit offensive.
