The 2014 Archibald Prize finalists have just been announced by the Art Gallery of NSW and here they are.

As per usual, there are some more traditional portraits, so unusual ones, and some even more unusual ones.

I like Isola by Natasha Bieniek, not just because of the realism – love the drapery – but because of its small size. As someone who prefers to do small works, I feel that tiny works of art are often overlooked and dismissed out of hand. Small works require close study, bringing the viewer closer to the artist’s vision.
