Twitter Thread Goes Viral and Ignites a Debate Over the “Right” Way to Draw an X


A thread on ‘How to draw an X’ is currently trending on Twitter with one user describing it as “blowing my mind”.

“How weird there are so many ways to draw an X… this is blowing my mind this evening haha” For the record. He is chose option 7.

One woman said most people in her house also chose no. 7 which starts from the top left to bottom right, then top right down to bottom left.

“Me *to every person in my house*: draw an X right now!,” she said, adding, “3/4 are 7 and a oddball 8.”

“I’ve forgot how I draw them bc of this picture I didn’t know there was so many ways to draw an X,” said another, while someone questioned “how is different ways to draw an X a trending topic.”

It was originally posted by @SMASEY, a self-described artist/ butcher from Philadelphia. The woman posted a picture of the eight different ways to draw an ‘X’ to her nearly 40,000 Twitter followers yesterday.

The post has already generated more than 11,000 comments and 19,000 likes.

People seem to care, while also being utterly confused by the many options.

One user went from choosing no. 6, then no.7 then “No wait I’m 8, lol”.

Judging from the comments, most are opting for no. 7 or no. 8 with one person explaining that “People who draw bottom to top are also the ones that put their toilet paper on the holder the wrong way.”

“Depending on if you’re right or left handed it should be 7 or 8. What kind of sick person draws an X any other way,” another added.

Others continued to just be baffled with all the different versions.

“How are there this many options.. it’s 7,” one woman said.
