Halloween Costumes. We all love them. Who can forget the Karate Kid’s “Shower Curtain”? Or ET’s very convincing bedsheet inspired ghost? Each year at around this time people start thinking about costumes that will out surprise, out spook, out inspire and out do their friends’ and families’. And no doubt there will soon be hundreds and thousands of photos floating around Facebook, Twitter and Instagram of some amazing creations. The Salvation Army and Oxfam must love Halloween. It’s when they clear their shelves and racks of the most unusual items. A pair of skis become wings. A bucket becomes a helmet. And of course, thousands and thousands of discarded sheets become ghosts. It’s an exciting time and we can’t wait to see what Halloween 2013 inspires.

But before we do, we thought we’d bring to light some beautiful old photos of some Halloween Costumes of the past. Creative. Creepy. Confusing. Check them out and share them with your friends. You never know, they may just inspire the best costume of the season.
